Extend legacy enterprise systems into mobile apps

Session Speakers
Session Description

One of the hardest challenges of mobile development in an enterprise is reusing legacy systems and processes. We used Red Hat Mobile Application Platform and OpenShift Enterprise by Red Hat to build our integration architecture. We develop custom OpenShift services to pull apart legacy macroservices and push that data into a Mongo DB on the Red Hat Mobile Application Platform. From there, we use the Red Hat mobile platform to build the microservices that enable a full mobile experience. By extending legacy systems into mobile apps, the 3M company saw a lot of benefits. We reduced their costs by eliminating the need to retrain their content creators and administrators on new systems. We maintained centralization of 3M product information systems, and built a reusable framework that they plan to repeat for all mobile integrations.
